Elementary and middle school children were challenged to apply their talent at creating a 5-2-1-0 Healthy NH jingle by putting their personal spin on the following 5-2-1-0 message:
- Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day;
- Cut TV and computer time to 2 hours or less a day;
- Spend at least 1 hour of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day; and
- Restrict soda and sugar-sweetened drinks.
The goal of the contest was to help spread these important guidelines to students and their families across the state. The top two winners were professionally recorded and are available for download for use at home, school or other locations where a healthy message for children is desirable.
Lucy Eills of Concord won first place for the 3rd – 5th grade category with her 5-2-1-0 Hop on the Healthy Bus rendition of the message.
Jonah Siegel of Westmoreland garnered the second place prize with his folksy tune accompanied by guitar.
