Substance Use Disorder Treatment

Through its Substance Use Disorder Treatment initiative, the Foundation works with hospitals and other partners to improve the recognition, treatment, and post discharge care pathway for persons with substance use disorder. The project began in 2016 with a focus on addressing opioid use disorder in emergency departments and outpatient primary care practices.  It expanded to include inpatient units in 2020, and further expanded in 2021 to include the treatment of all substances in emergency departments, networked primary care practices, and inpatient units.  The project focused on using an array of best practices in SUD treatment to improve patient care.

This work is funded by a grant from the Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services, New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services
