New Hampshire Hospital Association and its Board of Trustees are supporting recovery from opioid use disorder by championing evidence-based treatment in New Hampshire hospital emergency departments.  The Association and its affiliate, the Foundation for Healthy Communities, will support the effort with timely and targeted technical assistance, including an upcoming webinar and resources on this page.

Specifically, NHHA and hospitals throughout New Hampshire are committed to implementing the following efforts by December 31, 2024:

• – Offer medication assisted treatment to patients identified with an opioid use disorder.
• – Offer Narcan upon discharge to patients with an identified opioid use disorder. 
• – Provide their best effort for facilitated referrals to substance use disorder patients to treatment and recovery services as part of a comprehensive discharge plan.

 

Please note that any references to the “X Waiver” are obsolete.  That requirement was eliminated in December of 2022 and was replaced by a requirement for education for all prescribers.
